More options for court, e-mail from Brenda
I have not heard back from MAPS yet but that doesn't mean bad news its just means that either Mercy is still traveling or they are waiting until Zoya makes her trip to Irkutsk to meet personally. I will try to call today again to see if I can find more news.
We do have another angle we are working on too.
We have an exchange student in our church from Hungary. His Name is Peter. We found out that his Grandmother is very high politically in Russia and his Aunt is very wealthy and hangs out and gives lots of money to the political scene in Russia.
The Grandmother says that since independent adoptions are still legal in Russia at this point that it is ridiculous that this judge will not hear these cases and wants to try to help us if she can. Alex is very agreeable to this and they plan to have a phone conversation on Friday morning. She says she will do everything in her power to move this woman to hear independent cases.
Again I can't promise you anything at this point but we are not sitting back and doing nothing either. God has been amazing this past week and we are asking for specific prayers for this as most judges in Russia will back down to anything political and this woman may go straight to the Ministry of education. She wants to call the Judge herself but we are letting Alex tell her what she needs to do since we don't want in anyway to jeopardize anyone. Alex knows best in this situation but I wanted you all to pray and to let other know to pray specifically for this woman to be able to do something.
We are not giving up on MAPs or any other avenue, but we feel this could be a good chance to get things moving even faster for everyone that is stuck and independent. Adoptions international's accredited agency is without accreditation too now and this could even help them. That is all that matters is that the children come home to you all. I will keep you posted for any news. We have asked Alex to contact us after the phone call to see what was said and what will be done.
