Is it True, Is our Government going to finally help?
YES, IT TRUE!! Our state department is getting involved. A family met with them in February and today they posted an email from them wanting more info. Interestingly it is from the same person we begged to help us last year who said the state department will not get involved in these type of situations in other countries.
Here is copy of post:
I wanted to let you know that we have been diligently working with our U.S. Embassy in Moscow to find the best ways to work on the problems with getting cases released from Irkutsk. We are in the process of working on a government to government communication on behalf of the U.S. citizens adopting from Irkutsk. It is my understanding that you are connected to various other families in your situation. I would like to ask for your assistance in providing my contact information to those U.S. citizen families that you know. They can email me at: ... with the subject heading of "Irkutsk, Russia adoption." I would appreciate it if they could include their contact info (phone, address, and best email address) and the name(s) of the children they are in the process of trying to adopt. They may also call me with this information if they would like. My phone number is:#####
At this point we are just gathering the information that will later be used in our diplomatic efforts. Right now, we just do not have a complete list of families in that region. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to other adoptive families that are working with the Irkutsk region.
Sincerely,
Jill Larsen
