Saying goodbye
Yesterday was our last visit. A really sad day. It was raining. We meet with girls; both appear to be very tired. I wonder if they have been told this is our last visit. Dimples was very difficult and would stamp her feet and then fall and start rocking if redirected or told no. Rich tried to hold her and comfort her during one of these episodes, she would have nothing to do with this. Today is the first time we saw Pixie cry, Rich was playing with umbrella and hit automatic opener which frightened both girls, Pixie was very upset and refused to go near umbrella again. At 12:00 we said goodbye to girls, me in tears. As we drive away, one of the caretakers has them standing in the window waving goodbye to us, I think I will remember this image of them for the rest of my life.
It was 6 1/2 hour taxi ride back to Irkutsk, no planes fly on Saturday from Bratsk to Irkutsk. It was wild, they pass on hills and drive very fast. Cost was only $141.00. After we dropped off luggage, we went to Snowflake to eat again. They have a delicious homemade spiced wine and the bartender put some in a bottle for us to take home.
