Maybe some good news

It appears that Russia will likely outlaw independent adoption, so now we are looking for an agency to represent us in court. Commonwealth, the agency that did our homestudy refuses to help us. Today we got a a copy of an email to about another agency that is interested:

Dear Brenda,
I am very interested in speaking with you about Irkutsk. MAPS has long wished to be involved in this particular region, or I should more honestly say, I personally have wanted to be involved. I spent 2 weeks on Lake Baikal as a student in 1989, and loved it!

I am hesitant, however, to start up in this region where I have heard time between first and second trip can stretch up to a year or more??!! If indeed the difficult judge has retired, this may well be a new era for Irkutsk. If you have not yet found an accredited agency to work with, I am interested in hearing more from you.

Sincerely,

Mercy Reed Marchuk, Russia and Kazakhstan Program Director, MAPS International
