WE ARE HOME
Our flight from Bratsk to Moscow was an hour late in landing, even thought we took off on time. Then because of snow and bad traffic it took over 3 hours to get from Domodedovo Airport(one of 3 domestic airports in Moscow)to Sheremetyevo Airport-the international airport. We arrived at the airport at 1:10, the exact time our flight was to take off. Our driver who works for Peace Travel was wonderful. He went to the Delta counter with us to change our flight and then helped us book a room at the Sheremetyevo Hotel across from the airport. We are so tired and now I worry we did not give him a large enough tip.
We stayed in at the hotel, I pretty much slept most of the time. The hotel has a free shuttle and we headed back to the airport at 11:00 the next day. Thank goodness we were so early, it took 1 1/2 hours to get through security as they open every bag and search it thoroughly. On the way back I read in the USA Today newspaper an article about some women in the states that were very upset about security and body searches at Airports in the states. I find that absurd, it is ridiculous in this age of terrorism. I would much rather feel safe after everyone being searched (which is what they do in Russia) I feel much safer flying in Russia than in the States after experiencing their security procedures.
OK, off that bandwagon now. I got really upset in JFK when all of the families in front of us had their children that they had adopted. We had talked to several of the families on the flight, most had waited less than 5 months to complete their adoptions. By the time we got home I was very ill and a fever of 102. I slept for almost 20 hours
